I love running on Tangier’s Corniche, especially early in the morning when the air is fresh and the smell of the sea fills the place. There’s a moment of silence before the city wakes up, and that makes the run even more enjoyable.

Running to overcome obstacles...
I often meet people who share the same passion, and exchanging a greeting with them gives me a real boost. It’s a reminder that we are not alone out there, even when running feels like a solitary pursuit. For me, running frees my mind from the stress of the day and makes me feel light, almost as if I’m flying. Every step is a small reminder that I can keep moving forward, whatever obstacles I face in life.
...and understand the importance of patience
Over time, the Corniche has started to feel like an old friend waiting for me every morning. Some days I run fast and push myself, other days I slow down to enjoy the view of the sea. Both have their place. Running here has taught me patience and discipline, but also given me the positive energy I need to carry through the rest of the day.

I've been running for the last five years and cover around 20 miles per week, typically over three days each week.
Looking ahead
Sometimes, as I run along the Corniche, I dream about joining a big race. I imagine the sound of the crowd, people cheering at the finish line, and the pride of knowing that every kilometre I’ve run has brought me to that moment. ~ Zakaria Bakali
