Quiet Miles is built from the shared experiences of runners and yogis – the routes we trace, the places that stay with us, and the quiet reflections that surface along the way. Every journey is different, but each carries something worth telling: the joy of a first half-marathon, the steady rhythm of a familiar trail, the stillness that arrives at the end of a practice, or the way a landscape changes when we meet it on foot or by breath.
This page is an invitation to add your voice. Whether it’s a breakthrough, a moment of calm, or simply the view that greeted you on a hard day, your story can help others see the beauty in their own movement. Write as you like, in your own style – what matters is sharing what feels meaningful to you.
“I often get lost in the photos people share of their running routes or yoga practice on Strava and other platforms, but I always find myself wanting to know more about the runner and the location featured in the image. That curiosity is what inspired Quiet Miles.”
– Kieron James, Editor
The blog is a collection of stories, reflections, videos and images contributed by the running and yoga community. You don’t need to do both to take part – you only need a willingness to share a little about the movement or stillness that matters to you.
How to contribute
Contributions take the form of a short written piece (500–1,500 words), between 4 and 10 photographs, and optionally, a video (60–90 seconds recommended, 3 minutes maximum). Keep it personal and authentic – we want to hear your voice.
Submissions are via a simple Google Form:
Then a Dropbox link below to share your photos and video.
Additional notes for contributors
- Format: Written story (500–1,500 words).
- Images: High-resolution JPEGs or PNGs. Please add between 4 and 10 images, with at least one presented in landscape format for the post “hero” image.
- Video (optional, but really welcome!): MP4 or MOV, ideally 1080p or higher, 60–90 seconds recommended (maximum 3 minutes), portrait or landscape. Natural sound is fine – no need to narrate. If there are interesting sounds (footsteps, birds, water), try to capture them. We can help with editing if needed.
- Style: Personal, reflective, observational – keep it authentic and in your own voice. Quiet Miles is not about perfect writing or professional photography.
- Topics: Running, yoga, or both – but most important are the places, moments and stories that surround them.
Prompts to guide your story
These are optional, but they may help you reflect:
- What made this place or moment special to you?
- How did you feel before, during, and after?
- Is there a small detail – a sound, a colour, a gesture, a breath – that brings it to life?
- Would you recommend this route, place or practice to others – if so, why?
Reassurance
Quiet Miles isn’t about polish. It’s about honesty. Every story, every photograph, every voice adds something unique. If you can share a memory or moment that mattered to you, that’s enough.
Thank you so much for contributing.
